AI voiceover video generator: narration that drives the video
In a faceless video the voice is the presenter. ShortsMachine generates narration for every scene with natural-sounding AI voices and builds the edit around it: each scene lasts exactly as long as its line, and captions are timed to the words.
If the video model also makes sound — ambience, waves, footsteps — it is mixed quietly under the narration so the voice stays clear.
Voices and languages
Choose from up to 15 voices depending on your plan (3 on Starter, 6 on Creator, 12 on Pro, all 15 on Premium), with neutral, male and female options. Narration can be generated in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi and Arabic; visuals are prompted in English behind the scenes so image quality stays high.
Why voice-first timing matters
Many tools generate a clip and then squeeze the voice into it, which leads to rushed or cut-off lines. ShortsMachine measures each narration line first and fits the scene to it, holding the final frame if the clip is shorter. Every sentence finishes before the cut.
Getting a better read
- Short sentences sound more natural than long ones.
- Ask for the tone you want in your prompt: calm, suspenseful, energetic, warm.
- Spell out numbers and acronyms the way they should be spoken if pronunciation matters.
Narration and the model’s own sound
Several video models generate their own audio: HeyGen adds ambience and effects, Wan 2.7 and MiniMax H3 always include sound, and Seedance, Wan 3.0 and FLUX 3 Max add it by default. ShortsMachine keeps that sound but lowers it to roughly a fifth of the narration level, so waves, wind or footsteps add atmosphere without competing with the voice.
For models with optional paid audio, such as Veo and Kling, audio is only requested for scenes that have no narration, which keeps costs down.
Choosing a voice for your niche
- Horror and mystery: a calm, low, unhurried voice.
- Facts and explainers: a clear, neutral, friendly voice.
- Motivation: a deep, steady voice with confident pacing.
- Kids’ stories: a warm, gentle voice and simple sentences.
Frequently asked questions
Can I upload my own voice recording?
Not yet. Narration is generated with AI voices.
Can I turn the voiceover off?
Image-to-video clips have no narration. For scripted videos narration is part of the format, since it carries the story and the captions.
How natural do the voices sound?
Narration uses ElevenLabs voices, which handle intonation and pauses well. Short, conversational sentences in your prompt give the most natural results.
